With the B.C. property assessments soon to show up in the mailbox, there are some things worth remembering:
• The assessment is based on your property’s value as of July 1st this year.
•Your property taxes will be based on that assessment for 2026.
•Expect to receive the notice early in January, as the assessments are released on the second day of the New Year.
• If it doesn’t arrive, you can access it online through the B.C. Assessments website.
•There is an appeal process if you feel your assessment is incorrect.
• Deadline for appealing is January 31.
More details about the appeal process in particular will be in the next issue of News From Nexus. Like the assessment notice, it will also arrive in your (e)mailbox the first week of January.
